I was listening to Minister Joel Osteen the other day as he told a story about his brother, Paul, as a little boy. Their parents had put Paul to bed and gone to their own room down the hall. Not long after, the scared little boy called out to his father, “Daddy, are you there?”
“Yes, son, I’m here.”
And then a few minutes later…
“Daddy, is your face toward me?”
Isn’t that what we all want – certainly of our parents and those that we love, but especially of our heavenly Father. To know that His face is toward us.
The Psalmist implored…
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us!” (Ps. 67:1)
“Restore us, O Lord God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved!” (Ps. 80:19)
“Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence before Your very face.” (Ps. 140:13)
Daddy, is your face toward me?
For His dear children?
Yes! It sure is.
